HEND has detected neutrons from Mars

During the first two orbital low altitude fly-byes at 1:06 and 19:40 of October 25th (Moscow time) of NASA ”2001 Mars Odyssey” spacecraft at 300 km above the Martian North Pole, the Russian instrument HEND has detected the large fluxes of  high energy neutrons from the surface of the planet (Figures 1 and Figures 2, respectively).

Instrument HEND has been developed in the Institute for Space Research by the order from Russian Aviation and Space Agency, and it has been implemented on the US spacecraft in accordance with the Implementing Agreement between the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Russian Aviation and Space Agency.
