AKR-X FIRST RESULTS
FROM VLADIMIR KURILCHIK
AKR-X Key Scientist
September 14, 1995
From the beginning of the registration of cosmic radio emission by the
AKR-X receiver (6.08.95), first of all, we systematically observed the Auroral
Kilometric Radioemission (AKR). In August 1995, this emission was registered
predominantly at the frequency 252 kHz and sometimes at the frequencies 100
and 500 kHz. The example of AKR after the perigee above the North subpolar
region 6.08.95 is given in Fig.1 (time resolution 10 sec).
Fig.1
Of great interest is the registration of the beamed subauroral
nonthermal radio emission (SANE) which was discovered earlier in our
experiment AKR-2M at the frequency of 1486 kHz (Prognoz-10 INTERSHOCK,1985).
The AKR-X device has two channels (1463 and 1501 kHz)
for this purpose. Because the initial, highly excentric orbits of satellite
are oriented to the morning Local Time, that is, in the sector of
the propagation of SANE, we registrated this emission at frequency of
1463 kHz. In Fig. 2, the registration of the AKR and SANE is given after
the passage of the perigee 2.09.95 above the North Subpolar region
(time resolution 10 sec).
Fig.2
The beams of this emission are registered also at the orbit of the satellite
far from the Earth. The example of the beam registration is given in Fig. 3
Fig.3
with a time resolution of 10 sec (21.08.95). In Fig. 4, one can see
a part of this registration with higher time resolution 1 sec.
Fine structure of the emission is seen.
Fig.4
The solar phenomena are absent.
The investigations will be prolonged.
