THE FAST OMNIDIRECTIONAL NON-SCANNING ION ENERGY-MASS ANALYZER

INVESTIGATION OF DYNAMICS AND ORIGIN NEAR-MARS PLASMA WITH HIGH-TIME RESOLUTION MEASUREMENTS OF ION SPECIES

Main scientific objectives:to investigate the fine structure, dynamics and origin of near -Martian plasma with measurements of 3-d distribution functions of hot ions species with high time resolution.

Instrument consists of 36 separated Thomson parabola energy-mass analyzers followed by position-sensitive detectors. The field of each analyzer is determined by multi-hole collimator and hyperbolic electrostatic mirror. The analyser allows to measure 3-d distribution function of several ions species in wide energy range.

Main characteristics:
Energy range 20 eV/q - 8 keV/q
Energy resolution, DE/E0,2 - 10 МэВ
Total field of view 4 х 3,14
Angular resolution 30°х 60°
Geometric factor 4,2·10-5 sm2 ster
Mass range 1- 30 AMU
Mass resolution, M/DM 6
Temporal resolution 0,125 s
Mass [kg]10,7
