ELECTROSTATIC ANALYZER AND MAGNETOMETER

MEASUREMENTS OF THE 3D DISTRIBUTION OF THE ELECTRON AND ION FLUX AND MAGNETIC FIELD VECTOR

Main scientific objectives:: measurements, with a high accuracy and a high time resolution, of the magnetic-field vector and three-dimensional distribution of electrons and ions in the plasma environment of Mars and in the solar wind:

  • determination of Martian magnetic-field characteristics;
  • study of Martian plasma boundaries characteristics;
  • study of physical processes in the magnetosheath and magnetotail;
  • study of magnetic field topology from the electron flux anisotropy data.
  • MAREMF experiment combines two fluxgate magnetometers and two spectrometer for measuring 3D distribution of electrons and ions.

    Main characteristics:
    Magnetometer:
    Dynamic range 128 nT
    Resolution 4 pT
    Max sampling rate 100 vectors/s.
    Electron spectrometer:
    Field of view 4 x 3,14
    Spectral resolution 14 %
    Angular resolution4° x 22°
    Mass 12,2 kg
