Experiment: LILAS-2

RESEARCH OF THE COSMIC AND SOLAR GAMMA-RAY BURSTS



Main scientific objectives:

  • the localisation of the GRB sources with high precision ~10 arc sec (using the data of ULYSSES and BATSE-CGRO);
  • the analysis of the low energy absorption features in the spectra;
  • the studying of the thermal radiation at the damping stage of the GRB.


  • Physical and technical characteristics:
    Two Detectors NaI(Tl), d x h = 72 x 16 mm
    Energy range 5 KeV - 600 KeV
    Energy resolution 8% at the line 5,9 keV;
    40% - at 662 keV
    Sensitivity 5·10-7 erg/cm2
    Time resolution 1 ms for the research of the time structure, 0.25 s for the spectrum analysis
    Power 3 W
    Mass 5 kg
