Comment
This is a composite of two ERS-1 SAR images. Manifestations of several oceanic and atrmospheric fronts can be seen through the presence/absence of marine surface films. The semi-circular pattern in the upper image centre is due to an oceanic front (see the imprints of internal waves in that area), whereas the bright pattern in the upper right image corner and the dark pattern in the right image cen tre are due to atmospheric fronts, i.e., to a local cahnge in wind speed. Both kinds of fronts are well pronounced through the presence of marine surface films.
