Datatake ERS-2 SAR February 15, 1998 Mediterranean Sea Comment This image shows the north-western Mediterranean Sea, off the city of Barcelona. The plumes of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs (south and north of Barcelona, respectively) are visible because of an increased load of surface-active substances. These substances dampen the small-scale surface roughness and the plume becomes visible on SAR imagery. Image |
